Family Support

Living with cancer places enormous physical, emotional and financial stress on families. We are there for the entire journey from diagnosis, through treatment and remission. Our support is not just financial; it's about friendship. Sometimes parents have forgotten how to laugh. Our support reminds them.

At CQ we provide an optimistic environment where experiences can be shared. Each local CQ community creates support where it's needed most. After all, what is family for?

Many of our local CQs have set up their own version of a mentoring program where they help match newly diagnosed families with families who've come through the difficult periods.

Companion Couples

In 2007 our Northern NSW families asked us for help. They wanted a support network. They wanted to meet parents on a similar journey; to find a place to relax and share their stories. With this, the 'parents' retreat' idea was born. The retreats allow parents to meet with a small group of like-minded people over dinner.

The program has helped newly diagnosed families have a friendly face in the crowd and learn more about how our programs can help them. One parent said this was the most helpful experience they have had dealing with cancer.

We have also helped over three million school children and teachers learn about the challenges of living with cancer through uplifting performances jam-packed full of laughter and optimism.
